Tutor
Profile

Most of my career has been spent in technology – as a technical
author, as a development engineer specialising in pressure vessel design
and, more recently, as director and manager of a limited company supplying
health care equipment.
I started tutoring in mathematics around twenty years ago, while completing
a BSc in Technology at the University of the West of England. It began
very simply, initially tutoring my younger brother and sister who were
about to take their 'O' level Maths. This led to requests from friends
and the word spread, to such an extent that today maths
tutoring is my main endeavour; I also offer tuition in computing.
In the last few years I have also been teaching part-time at Wiltshire
College, from entry level numeracy to GCSE.
I really enjoy the work, especially operating on a one-to-one basis, as
this enables me to tailor my methods to the individual student and to
focus clearly on his or her particular requirements. I aim to instil in
my students a real enthusiasm for the subject and I encourage them to
discuss what they’re learning with colleagues at school or college
and - above all - to keep practising!
